Air Handling Units (AHU)
Complete Air Treatment for Central HVAC
System Overview
Air Handling Units (AHUs) are the heart of centralized HVAC systems. They are large metal enclosures containing fans, heating/cooling coils, filters, humidifiers, and other components for treating and circulating air. AHUs connect to ductwork that distributes conditioned air throughout a building and return air to the unit. They can be configured for 100% fresh air, recirculation, or mixed air operation. Modern AHUs feature double-wall construction for thermal break, energy recovery wheels, and variable frequency drives for fan speed control, making them highly efficient.
